Macbeth Review

Last night I saw Alan Cumming in Macbeth as part of Lincoln Center's summer festival. Despite what my Dad thinks, I feel it was amazing. It stayed with me long after the show ended and the energy and acting was superb. I enjoyed most of the show, but there was one interpretation I did not fully agree with. When he is doing Lady Macbeth's monologue about becoming a man, in order that she can kill the King, I felt it was a bit weak. It's a hard thing to do for one to change their views like that. I feel there could have been tears or shakes or something... although it was very well done the way he did it. One scene I really liked was when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are talking about how they are going to kill the King and it is intimated that they are, in fact, being intimate with each other. I found that to be quite profound and thought-provoking. It's not around for much longer, just another week, but if you get a chance, I highly suggest this production!

4 1/2 out of 5.
