Watched the musical Anastasia... it's based on the live-action film and the animated film, just put together into one new show with new dialogue and songs. The result is a beautiful scenic journey through Russia and France, done by amazing computer projections that work beautifully on the stage to the point of distraction. There are also nice juxtapositions of Communist Russia versus Monarchist Russia and the pros and cons of each, so the audience understands both sides of history, which is a rare thing to do in a show. The story, however, moves a bit slowly... it's... well... really Russian... it's almost like watching a Chekov play, except, well there is</a> a plot and the main characters have no interest in Moscow. It's worth seeing for the set alone, but there are other highlights, such as the train scene, the bombing of the palace, Anya's nightmares, and some rather witty dialogue throughout and in some unexpected places.
